Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Smithfield Foods. This role will be responsible for overseeing environmental management and Process Safety Management (PSM) at the plant, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

About You

To succeed in this position, you should have a bachelor's degree in environmental, health, and safety or a related field, and 3+ years of relevant experience. You should also be able to provide training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff, as well as make strategic decisions in stressful situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the location's environmental programs, EMS, and PSM programs meet all regulatory and company standards.
  • Establish and implement strategies for continuous improvement of Environmental/PSM processes.
  • Maintain the EMS program and assist in internal audits.
  • Cordinate location ISO 14001 certification, process safety teams, and documentation control requirements.
What We Offer

As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you can expect a competitive salary of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on your experience and qualifications. In addition to your salary, you will also receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement benefits, and education assistance.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The plant environment includes wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. The noise level is moderate but can be loud when in the production area. You will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently stand, walk, use stairs, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
