About Our Organization:


The Travis County Juvenile Probation Department (TCJPD) is committed to safeguarding public welfare by effectively addressing the needs of juveniles, their families, and crime victims.

To achieve this mission, TCJPD employs a comprehensive care approach that includes victim mediation, direct supervision, alternative education, substance abuse treatment, and various counseling services.

Utilizing trauma-informed assessments, TCJPD identifies youth requiring specialized interventions and collaborates with community partners to provide targeted support.

As a Nurse Practitioner II, you will assess healthcare needs and develop tailored care plans. You will coordinate medical treatments and deliver nursing care to patients, while also supervising Licensed Vocational Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct comprehensive intake and physical evaluations of patients, addressing immediate medical and psychological needs.
  • Perform drug screenings and manage daily medication orders and inventories.
  • Respond to and evaluate all categories of urgent medical situations, providing or arranging treatment as per established protocols.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams regarding patient health issues.
  • Deliver direct healthcare services, including wound care, medication administration, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Educate and counsel residents on health-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Assist in prioritizing patient care based on urgency and severity.
  • Participate in ongoing training for healthcare staff regarding safety and infection control practices.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a minimum of one year of nursing experience is required.

Licenses and Certifications:
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid Texas Driver's License. Certification as a Juvenile Detention Officer or eligibility for certification within six months of hire is necessary, along with successful completion of CPR and First Aid training.


Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry weights, visual acuity, and manual dexterity for operating office equipment.

Employees may be required to work in secure environments and must be prepared for a flexible schedule to meet departmental needs.
