Job Summary:

The Alaska Teacher Placement is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Indigenous Education Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of Alaska Native and American Indian students and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with community agencies, organizations, and Anchorage School District interdisciplinary teams to maximize educational opportunities for Alaska Native and American Indian students and families.
  • Assist Alaska Native and American Indian middle and high school students with academic guidance and resources.
  • Maintain consistent effective written and oral communication with students, parents/guardians, teachers, school administration, and members of the community.
  • Evaluate student records and assist with developing and implementing services that address social, academic and cultural needs.
  • Monitor grades, attendance, and credits regularly and consult and collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents/guardians.
  • Collect and enter data required by Indian Education and the Anchorage School District.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
  • Equivalent experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Four years' experience working with Alaska Native and American Indian youth and families within an educational setting preferred.
