Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Community Corrections Officer to join our team at Oakland County, Michigan Government. As a key member of our Community Corrections department, you will be responsible for supervising departmental unit employees and support staff, reviewing reports, and assisting the court in complex bonding considerations and sentencing alternatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise departmental unit employees and support staff
  • Review reports concerning the status of inmates housed in the Oakland County Jail
  • Assist the court in complex bonding considerations and sentencing alternatives
  • Prepare and present regular reports based on program statistics to appropriate officials
  • Respond to and initiate correspondence to various individuals within the criminal justice system
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and updating policies and procedures for the consistent operation of the entire division
  • Assist with establishing long-range goals and strategies for the division
  • Assist the manager in the development of the division budget and in presentations to the Board of Commissioners and related committees
  • Assist the manager in the development of the state grant application
  • Function as a liaison concerning various departmental committees and agencies
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Public or Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related area
  • At least five years of full-time casework or related work experience involving interviewing, investigating, and counseling practices, procedures, and techniques
  • OR
  • Bachelors degree in Public or Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related area
  • At least seven years of full-time casework or related work experience involving interviewing, investigating, and counseling practices, procedures, and techniques
