Job Description

Position Overview: The Logistics Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing the daily functions of our transportation fleet. This position entails organizing schedules, planning routes, and ensuring timely delivery of shipments while adhering to industry standards and company protocols.

The candidate will handle general dispatch responsibilities, including generating shipping documents and load sheets. Proficiency in responding to inquiries via phone and email is essential, along with strong problem-solving and multitasking capabilities. A background in transportation or logistics, particularly in dispatching, is preferred. Familiarity with TMS dispatch software and proficiency in Excel, Office, and Outlook are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Route Optimization: Design and refine delivery routes to guarantee prompt and efficient shipment of goods. Stay informed about weather conditions, traffic updates, and road closures to modify routes as necessary.
  • Delivery Scheduling: Develop and oversee delivery timelines for drivers, ensuring all assignments are fulfilled and shifts are appropriately staffed.
  • Effective Communication: Act as the main liaison between drivers, clients, and the organization. Provide clear directives and updates to drivers while promptly addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Monitoring and Tracking: Employ tracking systems and software to oversee the location and status of shipments. Ensure compliance with schedules and safety regulations by drivers.
  • Operational Problem-Solving: Tackle and resolve operational challenges, such as delays or vehicle malfunctions. Strive to implement solutions that minimize disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Documentation: Keep precise records of dispatch operations, including driver logs, shipment information, and maintenance reports. Prepare and submit necessary reports to management.
  • Client Relations: Deliver outstanding service to clients by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring their needs are met. Build strong relationships with customers and effectively manage any service-related concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years in dispatching, logistics, or a related field is required. Experience in the transportation sector is advantageous.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Proficiency in dispatch software and GPS tracking systems. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of DOT regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in logistics, business, or a related field is a plus.
  • Other: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary. Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure.
