Plastic Injection Mold Maker Job Description

A leading company in North Raleigh is seeking an experienced Plastic Injection Mold Maker to join their team on 1st shift. This is a direct hire opportunity with full benefits and PTO. The ideal candidate will have recent professional experience building plastic injection molds and additional experience with grinding, hand milling, CNC lathe/mill, EDM sinkers, or lasers is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct and adapt molds for plastic injection molding
  • Create initial molds based on specifications from the design team, blueprints, or schematics
  • Use various measuring and gauging tools to perform necessary inspections before, during, and after molding operations
  • Set up equipment based on mold requirements, materials, and tolerances
  • Execute production runs and conduct quality control testing before the mold enters the production cycle
  • Maintain knowledge of materials and products
  • Assist machinists and millwrights with the injection molding process and equipment

Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience in tool and die or plastic injection mold making
  • Experience with CNC handmilling, hot runner, CNC lathe, CNC mill, sinker EDM, and other related skills
