Product Development Engineer

CommScope is seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer to join our team. As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing new products that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect product requirements and transform them into concept and design
  • Understand customer needs and competitive products to uncover document needs for New Product Development
  • Create physical models, sample analogs, and prototypes to validate product concepts
  • Be able to visualize concepts/designs in 3D
  • Prepare, initiate, and conduct engineering design reviews
  • Use FMEA's to mitigate risks and ensure conformance and success of products developed
  • Understand material properties and applications for optimum performance and effectiveness
  • Transform innovative concepts and designs into real products
  • Keep abreast of existing and new technologies that are applicable to areas of responsibility
  • Interpret industry standards and regulatory guidelines on how they impact product requirements
  • Identify IP opportunities and initiate filing process
  • Be a technical contributor in a R&D product development team, transforming concepts into components from the first idea to the market introduction
  • Collaborate in a team-based environment of engineers, CADs, technicians as well as other departments (operations, product management, sales)
  • Understand impact of design on costs and schedule
  • Communicate technical details to stakeholders
Requirements:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering and 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience in product development (e.g. mechanical design or molded and sheet metal parts or engineering plastics)
  • Robust Mechanical Eng skills
  • 3D CAD using Creo to define geometry
  • Plastics and metals processing techniques and design rules
