Position Overview

Fairview Health Services is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician/Unit Support Specialist at our healthcare facility.

This role offers a 0.9 FTE (72 hours per two weeks) schedule, featuring 12-hour shifts during the day with a rotation every third weekend.

The starting compensation is $22.00 per hour, with potential increases based on experience.

Our facility, established in 2000, provides a serene environment for patient care, surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. We are committed to delivering high-quality healthcare services to our community.

About the Unit

  • 18-bed Telemetry and ICU unit
  • Serves patients aged 18 and older
  • Average patient stay of 3-4 days
  • Patient demographics include those on ventilators, experiencing codes, septic conditions, shock, and unstable post-surgical recovery

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold the core principles of patient care to align with our healthcare vision.
  • Support the nursing process to deliver outcome-focused patient care, adhering to holistic nursing theories.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, reinforcing patient education as directed.
  • Ensure excellence in customer service by understanding the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Document patient information accurately in electronic health records, following established standards and policies.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Actively engage in initiatives to improve patient care processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

  • Minimum of six months of recent direct care experience in long-term, home care, or acute care settings. Acceptable roles include Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician.

OR

  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, having completed at least one semester of clinical rotation.

OR

  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement is not necessary to maintain throughout employment unless transferring to another relevant position.
  • Note: Candidates who have completed a Nursing Assistant program and are scheduled to take the NA Registry exam will have 90 days post-hire to become active on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification is required.
