Typical Responsibilities

As a Sales/Use Tax Manager, you will engage in a diverse range of multi-state sales and use tax consulting projects, which include taxability assessments, due diligence processes, and audit defense strategies.

You will take the lead on sales/use tax projects, managing day-to-day consulting activities both internally and with clients. Additionally, you will oversee the management of assigned tasks. This role offers flexibility with hybrid options available at various Eide Bailly locations or fully remote work.
Key Activities:
  • Conduct research on state sales/use tax matters, including nexus evaluations and taxability assessments.
  • Draft guidance on state sales/use tax topics, covering areas such as nexus, taxability, and best practices.
  • Assist clients in resolving sales tax disputes, handling transactions, notices, and audits.
  • Review and reconcile sales tax returns.
  • Manage voluntary disclosure initiatives.
  • Engage in client communications, project planning, budgeting, staffing, and billing.
  • Stay updated on multi-state sales and use tax developments.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (mandatory) and hold a valid CPA license, CMI Certification in Sales/Use Tax, or be an actively licensed attorney (mandatory). You should have a minimum of 5 years of consulting experience in multi-state sales and use taxation (mandatory). Familiarity with sales tax software engines such as Avalara or TaxJar is advantageous but not essential.

As a team leader, you will foster an environment of trust, encourage diverse perspectives for improvement and innovation, and mentor staff by providing timely and constructive feedback.

Comprehensive technical knowledge related to sales and use taxation, tax research, and the ability to communicate effectively with varied audiences is essential. Experience in voluntary disclosure compliance, audit defense, and advanced Excel modeling is also required.

You should excel in listening, identifying, and responding to client needs in a friendly and efficient manner. Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship is necessary.

Compensation:
$110,000 - $150,000

Our compensation strategy focuses on competitive and fair pay. Eide Bailly adheres to all local and state regulations regarding salary ranges. Final compensation decisions are influenced by factors such as location, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
