THE ROLE:
As a Lead Compiler Engineer for Triton, you will work with a language and compiler designed for crafting highly efficient custom Deep-Learning primitives. Our commitment to supporting AMD GPUs as a backend in Triton is unwavering.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The perfect candidate will possess familiarity with compilers, GPU architectures, parallel programming, and/or high-performance kernels. A strong analytical mindset for assessing workloads and driving enhancements across various compiler layers is essential. Above all, a willingness to learn and collaborate across disciplines is crucial.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and sustain the AMD backend for the Triton compiler.
2. Enhance various compilation patterns and processes within Triton.
3. Research and create high-performance matrix multiplication and attention kernels in Triton.
4. Analyze kernel performance on AMD GPUs and address performance bottlenecks.
5. Resolve issues within the AMD GPU backend.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Familiarity or prior experience with Triton is highly advantageous.
2. Knowledge of MLIR, LLVM, and IREE.
3. In-depth understanding of GPU architectures and programming models.
4. Extensive experience in writing high-performance GPU kernels and performance optimization.
5. Proficiency in debugging cross-stack issues and translating user challenges into actionable solutions.
6. Commitment to open-source development principles.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
