Job Summary

As the Director of Project Accounting, you will be responsible for leading the financial strategies to optimize project profitability and accuracy, while mitigating risks and enhancing efficiencies. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a strong understanding of financial management principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review subcontractor agreements to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Review all general condition and subcontractor monthly invoices for owner billing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversight of the billing folders for all projects, including monthly invoices and waivers, to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Review job cost reports as requested from the project management team to provide financial insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure consistent billing and financial reporting at project levels by following best practices and company policies.
  • Review project budgets, staffing, and work plans to guarantee appropriate fees and ensure timely payment to subcontractors.
  • Offer exact invoices to clients and coordinate consultant payments to ensure timely payment and minimize delays.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and support project managers with collection efforts to minimize outstanding receivables.
  • Review pre-bills for project manager's review and instruction to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support analysis and report assigned projects' financial information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Translate project working capital financial information and support project team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Offer actual costs information to team and conduct transfers to ensure accurate financial reporting and minimize delays.
  • Oversight to generate, audit, and mail client invoices to assist in cash flow and make subcontractor invoice payments.
  • Support effective client relationship and submit project invoices to ensure timely payment and minimize delays.
  • Ensure up-to-date maintenance of client contracts that reflect project needs and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Guarantee timely reporting, budgeting, financial management, and project forecasting to clients to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Previous construction accounting experience or accounting in a similar field required.
  • Must have project-based (% of completion) accounting experience.
  • 7-10+ years accounting experience required.
  • Experience in Spectrum or ERP systems preferred.
