Job Description

As a Cyber Defense Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our cybersecurity programs and initiatives. Your primary focus will be on assessing the costs associated with potential threats and developing innovative solutions to complex problems using advanced consulting skills and extensive technical expertise.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement proactive measures to prevent cyber-attacks and unauthorized access. Your duties will include:

  • Performing in-depth investigations into security incidents, including malware analysis, forensics, and threat intelligence analysis.
  • Collaborating with teams to develop and maintain comprehensive threat models, risk assessments, and incident response plans.
  • Staying abreast of emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices to continuously improve our cyber defense capabilities.
  • Providing expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders on cybersecurity matters, including risk management, compliance requirements, and security awareness training.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of security controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate cyber risks effectively.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • 12+ years of professional experience in professional services, Federal government, or Federal consulting.
  • 6+ years of experience in the cybersecurity or information assurance field and capable of providing an operational understanding of the cybersecurity program within DoD.
  • 4+ years of experience supporting DoD-level cybersecurity service provider (CSSP) teams.
  • 4+ years of experience with writing or drafting executive or formal senior-level correspondence and/or material to support decision-making and strategy development.
  • 2+ years of experience drafting technical writing at the organization-level (e.g., drafting organization-level technical policies, and strategies).
Education

You will need to have a Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Additionally, CISSP or CISM certification is required.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following additional qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating meetings, working groups, conferences, and associated pre and post-meeting activities.
  • Possession of strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800 series publications.
  • Knowledge of Joint instructions and manuals.
