About the Role

TikTok USDS is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our Traffic and Networking team. As a key member of our team, you will design, build, operate, and optimize our network infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build our network infrastructure, including backbone, public cloud, and Edge/CDN.
  • Manage and operate our Layer 7 load balancer, CDN origin, and DNS.
  • Troubleshoot network and traffic issues in partnership with our Trusted Technology Partner.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and evolution of the network.
  • Work with external vendors and ISPs for device and carrier selection, perform testing and verification.
  • Participate in TikTok USDS traffic and networking global oncall rotation.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Good understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, RSVP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, and MPLS related technologies.
  • Good understanding of network monitoring protocols and tools, such as SNMP, Sflow/netflow, Telemetry.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Load Balancers, DNS, CDN origin, Datacenter networking.
  • Familiarity with data center network architecture, such as CLOS.
  • Bachelor's in Computer or Engineering related field, or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree based on three or more years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

It would be great if you have:

  • Significant experience configuring and optimizing Nginx.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols and implementation in hyperscale data center networks.
  • In-depth knowledge of public cloud architecture, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Ali Cloud, OCI, etc.
  • Good understanding of IPv6 and IPv4-IPv6 coexistence technologies.
  • Programming/scripting in Python, Go, or other languages.
