POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing blood draws, specimen collection, and various laboratory tests. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare and maintain equipment for blood collection and testing.
  2. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) during all specimen handling.
  3. Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients.
  4. Accurately identify patients using multiple identifiers.
  5. Process and label specimens correctly, ensuring compliance with protocols.
  6. Enter patient information and laboratory requests into electronic systems.
  7. Instruct patients on specimen collection procedures.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to infection control standards.
  9. Inventory and replenish supplies as necessary.
  10. Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have completed an accredited Phlebotomy program. A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must hold or be eligible for a National Phlebotomy Certification, which should be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Proficient in phlebotomy techniques and laboratory protocols.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and staff.
  3. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  4. Attention to detail in data entry and specimen processing.
