Job Summary

The Senior Engineering Inspector will perform technical work in the inspection and management of Town capital construction projects and private development projects. This position is responsible for interpreting and enforcing applicable code requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections by coordinating construction with other Town departments and governmental agencies, ensuring that plans have been approved and permits are in place.
  • Maintain inspection records, verifying materials used to meet Town standards, and issue and inspect driveway permits.
  • Manage projects in the field by holding pre-construction conferences, providing adequate project supervision, interpreting drawings, and assisting in resolving issues.
  • Respond to requests from the public by assisting with permit acquisition and approvals, and assisting Town staff with requests for information.
  • Maintain archival and data retention records, ensuring that all drawings are approved and submitted, and maintain a database of commercial and residential building complexes for use by emergency departments.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in civil engineering or construction management or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in a related field.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina.
