Speech-Language Pathologist Job Description

Denver Public Schools is seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dynamic team. The SLP will be responsible for identifying and treating students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate students to diagnose speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's specific needs.
  • Provide direct therapeutic services in diverse educational settings, including individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to integrate speech and language goals into daily classroom activities and support student progress.
  • Maintain precise and confidential records of student progress, therapy sessions, and IEP documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions to support student development.
  • Provide guidance and training to educators and parents on strategies to foster communication skills and support student learning.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in speech-language pathology through ongoing professional development.
Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider license with a Speech-Language Pathologist endorsement.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • In-depth knowledge of speech and language development and disorders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and other school staff.
  • Commitment to professional growth and adherence to best practices in speech-language pathology.
