Job Summary

David Evans and Associates is seeking a skilled Bridge Inspection and Design Professional to support transportation-related projects in multiple markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform tasks and procedures necessary to plan and execute bridge and tunnel inspection work orders and stand-alone projects.
  • Conduct structural analyses and develop calculations using the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation and other codes for structural load ratings.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of bridge design procedures and AASHTO LRFD and Standard Specifications.

Typical projects will include bridge and tunnel inspections for reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete, steel, and timber structures, as well as load ratings for bridges of all types and sizes.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable bridge inspection, load rating, and/or design experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service bridges, or NHI-approved equivalent.
  • Proficiency in current bridge inspection and management software.
  • Experience with current bridge load rating or analysis software platforms.
  • Knowledgeable in other current structural design software applications, with an emphasis on bridge design software.
  • Experience with MathCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a heavy emphasis on Excel and Word.
  • Knowledgeable in drafting software application such as Microstation, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Knowledge of representative state DOT bridge inspection and load rating standards and guidelines.
  • Successful completion of NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges.
  • Active certification as a Rope Access Technician through SPRAT (Society for Professional Rope Access Technicians).
