Job Title: Bilingual Special Education Assistant - Butler

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Bilingual Special Education Assistant to join our team at Butler Middle School. As a Special Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs and abilities.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist the Special Education Teacher in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and providing support to students in various settings. This includes communicating with students in a way that fosters a positive self-image, assisting with academic, communication, social, and self-help skills, and providing physical support as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Special Education Teacher in implementing IEPs and providing support to students in various settings.

  • Provide physical support as needed.
  • Supervise students during structured and unstructured times.
  • Implement behavior management strategies for students.
Requirements:
  • Eligible for or possess a teaching license or Special Education Program Aide license #070.
  • Three years of experience with children or three years of college coursework or a combination equivalent to three years.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written language form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, federal, state, and/or DPI regulations and handbooks.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in dealings with students, parents, other staff, and the public.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

This job is performed in a school setting both indoors (classrooms/cafeteria/hallways) and outdoors (playground). Attendance is an essential function of this position.
