LPN - Internal Medicine Specialist

Christie Clinic's department of Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time LPN to join our team. This role will be clinic-based with consideration for remote work following training and meeting department criteria.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.
- Send prescription refills in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.
- Instruct patients regarding the collection of samples and tests.
- Arrange for patient testing and place orders.
- Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, etc.
- Instruct patient and family regarding medication, treatment instructions and patient care.
- Respond to triage calls using nursing assessment to ensure patients with emergency situations are given priority, and document accordingly.
- Participate in departmental huddles and any other meetings as necessary.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications, testing, procedures, equipment, etc.
- Maintain work list from provider and follow up on labs, tests, reports, etc.
- Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
- A valid state license to practice nursing.
- Practical nursing experience and CPR are preferred.
Work is performed in a clinical setting with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment.
Requirements may include working irregular hours.
