Property Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Property Accounting Manager to join our team at Avison Young. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely completion of accounting reports and client requests.
The successful candidate will act as a liaison between the accounting staff and the Vice President, Finance, providing training and day-to-day supervision for the accounting staff. They will also be responsible for adhering to established policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate internal controls.
Additional responsibilities include participation in accounting training, coordination of client requests and monthly financial statements, and setup and transition of new properties.

Key Responsibilities- Day-to-day supervision of Property Accountants
- Liaison between Property Accountants and Vice President, Finance
- Responsible for New Employee Training
- Responsible for ensuring Property Accountant performance quality
- Responsible for coordinating coverage of Property Accountant desk
- Prepare Client specific monthly accounting calendar
- Track monthly mortgage, ground lease or other debt service amounts
- Assist in the instruction of weekly accounting training classes
- Travel to internal and external client offices to ensure quality control of accounting process
- S. or B.A. degree in Business Administration or Accounting
- One (1) to five (5) years of Property Management Accounting Experience
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret tenant leases, management agreements, and financial narratives
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Property Managers, Controllers, Accounting Managers and Property Accountants
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratios and percentages
- Ability to identify and solve problems with limited information
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work in a high-volume arena
