Job Summary

The Medical Monitor Specialist is an unlicensed healthcare professional responsible for performing indirect care in a department setting. This role involves monitoring cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors, meeting the communication needs of the department, and transcribing physician orders in the absence of a computerized physician order entry (CPOE) and electronic medical record (EMR) clinical documentation system. Additionally, the Medical Monitor Specialist verifies that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done, prepares and compiles records in Med/Surg/Telemetry, and orders supplies for the unit. The ideal candidate will be able to assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties while maintaining primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring.

Responsibilities

- Monitor cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors
- Meet the communication needs of the department
- Transcribe physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system
- Verify that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done
- Prepare and compile records in Med/Surg/Telemetry
- Order supplies for the unit
- Assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as needed

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Six months previous experience in Healthcare or as Monitor Technician
