City of Pleasant Hill Recreation Program Manager

The City of Pleasant Hill Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Recreation Program Manager to join our team. As the Recreation Program Manager, you will be responsible for planning, promoting, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating comprehensive sporting, recreation, and leisure programs provided through targeted toddler, youth, adult, and senior services as well as community events and festivals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement recreational programs and activities that meet the diverse needs of our community.
  • Supervise and train program staff, volunteers, and contractors to ensure high-quality programming and excellent customer service.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and evaluations of programs to inform future planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with community partners, local organizations, and sponsors to secure funding and resources for programs.
  • Develop and manage budgets for programs, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Communicate effectively with program participants, parents, volunteers, coaches, and contractors to promote programs and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, youth development, sports management, or a related field.
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) Certification.
  • Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification.
  • Strong planning, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Management and supervisory techniques, including hiring, training, mentoring, leading, supervising, and evaluating work.
  • Knowledge of philosophy, methods, and techniques for administering recreation and athletic programs using available parks and school system properties and facilities.

Work Environment:

This role requires working in an office, recreational facility, and field environment where the employee may be exposed to hot/cold inclement weather, dust, dirt, and noise. Some work may necessitate the use of protective devices. Work is often performed while sitting at a desk but may include long hours of standing with limited breaks, walking, stooping, and occasionally lifting and/or moving supplies and materials up to 50 pounds related to recreation programs, activities, and events.
