KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain high academic expectations, establish objectives, and strive to meet them.
  • Tailor curriculum, instructional methods, and personalized learning plans to accommodate diverse student needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Engage with families to create a supportive environment for student growth.
  • Manage classroom behavior respectfully, adhering to school-wide policies and the Acero Charter Schools Student Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with instructional leaders to create and implement a Professional Growth Plan for your professional development.
  • Communicate effectively with administration, colleagues, students, parents, and the broader academic community to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Exhibit professionalism, leadership, and accountability in daily responsibilities, including attendance, appearance, student learning, and overall school success.
  • Demonstrate collegiality and contribute positively to the school community.
  • Embrace the belief in our collective ability to shape a promising future.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • Ability to demonstrate student academic progress and articulate the strategies employed to achieve these results.
  • Possession of a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent (required).
  • Valid Illinois 5-8 Social Studies endorsement (required).
  • Residency in Chicago is not mandatory.
  • Authorization to work in the United States (required).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This role requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, compile and prepare documentation, and maintain organized work files. Physical demands include standing, bending, reaching, and walking around the classroom for a significant portion of the day. Candidates should be able to lift and/or move 15 to 20 lbs. for brief periods and navigate stairs multiple times throughout the day.

The majority of work will take place in a typical school environment, with expectations for extended hours and participation in organization-sponsored events and meetings.
