Position: Lead Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL
As a Lead Engineer, you will be integral to overseeing the engineering and maintenance functions of our hotel, ensuring optimal safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. We are looking for a candidate with substantial experience in the hospitality sector, particularly in pre-opening environments, and a proven track record in managing maintenance teams and implementing industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute comprehensive maintenance strategies for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Lead and mentor the engineering team, focusing on recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
- Perform regular assessments of hotel facilities and systems to proactively identify and resolve maintenance and safety issues.
- Collaborate with external contractors for specialized repair and maintenance services.
- Oversee the departmental budget, managing expenses related to labor, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring timely procurement as necessary.
- Implement energy-saving and sustainability initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, and building regulations.
- Respond effectively to guest inquiries and emergencies concerning engineering and maintenance.
- Assist with pre-opening preparations, including establishing maintenance protocols and ensuring operational readiness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in engineering or facilities management, ideally within the hospitality industry.
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven capacity to prioritize tasks and manage resources efficiently.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and relevant software.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Professional certification in engineering or facilities management is advantageous.
