Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Technologist II to join our team at Washington University in St. Louis. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and special molecular assays on blood, body fluids, and solid tissue, as well as assisting with all technical aspects of clinical and research studies and experiments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-complexity assays according to laboratory standard operating procedures, including instrument maintenance and assay troubleshooting.
  • Assist with validation of new assays, compile data for supervisory review, and utilize specific analysis, database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
  • Comply with all regulatory and client requirements for testing and documentation.
  • Ensure lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures and regulatory policies.
  • Coordinate and maintain ordering of all reagents, consumables, and other regularly used office supplies.
  • Assist with education and training of laboratory personnel with regard to laboratory procedures and compliance of established regulatory procedures.
  • Participate in relevant continuing education programs and seminars to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a laboratory setting, which may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens and chemicals. Protective devices will be provided to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements
  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (ASCP).
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR amplification and sequence analysis.
