We are currently seeking a full-time Vice President of Risk Management to join our team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the innovation, governance, and management required to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor the organization's operational and strategic risks. The VP of Risk Management will create enterprise risk management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report risks while managing them in accordance with an enterprise risk management framework.
- Establish the organization's enterprise risk management architecture and framework, driving the necessary organizational change for successful implementation and operation.
- Oversee and monitor all operational and programmatic risk management activities, including analyzing risks within business units and reporting these risks to senior executives and the Board of Directors as appropriate.
- Develop and lead a risk management team, including compliance staff, to establish an effective matrix structure for enterprise risk management.
- Ensure that the organization's risk management policies and strategies comply with applicable regulations, governmental standards, and the strategic imperatives of the organization.
- Provide critical input to senior executives regarding the enterprise risk management process, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Lead organization-wide accreditation processes with support from the Senior Director of Compliance and provide input on program-specific accreditations.
- Collaborate with the Chief Data Officer to align cybersecurity efforts with risk tolerance, promoting the mitigation of cyber risks and safeguarding the organization from technology-related losses.
- Manage the organization's insurance portfolio in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer.
- Lead business continuity planning initiatives for the organization.
- Work collaboratively with staff managing program-specific compliance and risk management activities, serving as a risk management champion to promote a comprehensive understanding of risk and risk management strategies across the organization.
- Regularly engage with leadership to enhance their understanding of complex risk and compliance reporting, assisting them in incorporating a risk and compliance perspective into their program management.
- Focus on streamlining processes to drive efficiencies in compliance and risk management.
- Maintain the organization's legal representation registry and monitor the status of legal engagements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- An advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred, though equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in regulatory compliance or a related field is required. Experience in non-profit organizations is preferred, along with government contract experience.
- Proficient in general office software, with strong skills in presentation, data visualization, and analytics tools.
- Ability to work independently and engage effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- While performing essential duties, the employee must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, frequently communicate, and use hands and fingers to operate objects or controls. Occasional bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching may be required.
- Close visual acuity is necessary for activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, as well as transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Compensation is commensurate with years of relevant experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for this position is $140,000.
