Substation Designer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Substation Designer to join our team at Kiewit Corporation. As a Substation Designer, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of substation and transmission line projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop design documents and drawings for substation and transmission line projects.
  • Create substation design/construction drawing packages, including general arrangements, elevation and detail sheets, bill of materials, conduit and cable schedules.
  • Provide drafting support for various types of substation design files, including physical, electrical P&C, and structural.
  • Utilize company standards, client standards, and/or engineering direction to produce new 3D models, drawings, and update existing design files.
  • Train, develop, and mentor less-experienced design team members.
  • Perform quality control checks and provide feedback to team members.
Requirements:
  • 0-2 years' experience in design and/or drafting disciplines with a background in electrical substation or transmission line design preferred.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in drafting/design or engineering technology preferred; minimum GED diploma with drafting or electrical design training.
  • Basic experience working with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a growing, adaptive, and multi-discipline team environment.
  • Legally able to work within the United States for any length of time.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in the English language.
