Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) plays a crucial role within the adult ICU environment, collaborating as a vital member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
- The CVICU APP is primarily responsible for managing critically ill adult patients and serves as a key resource throughout the healthcare facility for intensive care interventions.
- This role involves overseeing day-to-day patient care, transitioning patients from ICU to step-down units, and facilitating discharges.
- The APP may also engage in follow-up care for the same patient population in outpatient settings.
- Responsibilities may extend to the admissions process, including ICU triage.

Qualifications:
- A strong foundation in evidence-based practice and education is essential, ensuring a commitment to providing safe, high-quality care.
- The APP must demonstrate advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, and professionalism in communication skills.
- Ongoing professional development and competency validation are expected.

Work Schedule:
This position primarily operates on a night shift basis, with APPs working six clinical shifts, and additional shifts compensated at market rates. APPs are also allocated one professional development shift per pay period.

Professional Development:
- APPs are provided with $4,000 and 80 hours of leave for continuing education.

Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in patient assessment and care documentation.
- Ability to formulate differential diagnoses and initiate appropriate referrals.
- Competence in managing diagnostic tests through ordering and interpretation.
- Expertise in line placement and maintenance.
- Capability to provide specialty consultation services upon request.
- Utilization of evidence-based, approved practice protocols in care planning and implementation.
