Job Title: Senior Plumbing Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Plumbing Design Engineer to join our team at HOK in Houston. As a Senior Plumbing Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and modeling plumbing and fire suppression systems for large and complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and modify Revit models of plumbing and fire suppression systems and components according to governing codes and established standards.
  • Create project drawings from the Revit model.
  • Develop flow diagrams, riser diagrams, control diagrams, equipment schedules, details, and similar project documents using Revit.
  • Organize and maintain Revit models and design documents for multiple projects.
  • Develop plumbing and fire protection system specifications.
  • Prepare calculations necessary for the plumbing and fire suppression systems design.
  • Work closely with project teams to complete projects on aggressive schedules.
  • Perform all work in a clear, complete, and accurate manner.
Requirements:
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes.
  • Ability to design and model plumbing and fire protection systems for large and complex projects.
  • Ability to produce drawings, specifications, and calculations with limited guidance from more senior staff.
  • Proficiency in Revit, including BIM modeling.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge about sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Ability to perform computer drafting functions using Revit and resolve design conflicts.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of plumbing and fire suppression system design experience working on a wide variety of building types.
  • Experience working and coordinating with integrated teams.
  • LEED credential required within 6 months of employment.
  • ASPE CPD credentials preferred.
