USALCO Baltimore Production, LLC is a key entity within the manufacturing network of a prominent supplier of aluminum-based component products utilized in various sectors, including water treatment and pulp and paper production. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset, the ability to collaborate within a team while also working independently, and consistently meet high performance standards.

POSITION SUMMARY: The individual in this role is tasked with the production of chemical goods while ensuring adherence to all company policies and regulations. This role requires a motivated, detail-oriented, and results-focused team player who:

  • Integrates safety and quality into every decision during daily operations.
  • Effectively operates chemical processes and machinery to safely produce high-quality products.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for process enhancements and collaborates with management and colleagues to implement approved modifications promptly.

The successful candidate will be a positive, task-driven individual with experience in chemical manufacturing and a strong mechanical aptitude. The Chemical Production Specialist is accountable for the safe and efficient management of plant processes and equipment. Excellent communication skills are essential to keep supervisors and peers updated on process conditions. This individual must be personally and professionally motivated to work constructively with team members at all levels within the organization to fulfill job responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervise the safe and efficient operation of assigned processes, including the secure handling of hazardous materials.

2. Adhere to all plant safety protocols, operational guidelines, and procedures.

3. Properly utilize and maintain personal protective equipment necessary for working with hazardous substances.

4. Develop and implement improvements in processes, equipment, and operational procedures.

Daily Duties:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of processes and equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Perform quality assurance evaluations on produced goods.
  • Modify formulations to guarantee that final products meet established specifications.
  • Assist in loading products onto trailers.
  • Unload raw materials as required.
  • Complete Certificates of Compliance for loaded shipments.
  • Accurately fill out all necessary documentation, including batch records, operational logs, and shift reports.
  • Maintain and share PVD Board information with other shifts.

5. Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Submit MP2 work order requests for maintenance concerns.
  • Conduct daily inspections of plant equipment and report any issues to the supervisor.

6. Must be available to work a Dupont (rotating shift) schedule, including overtime, and be capable of performing physical labor and adapting to changing shifts as necessary to meet operational demands.

7. Carry out additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Planning skills to prioritize daily operations effectively.

  • Understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Dependability, flexibility, and the ability to respond promptly to customer needs are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must obtain a Forklift License through USALCO within 30 days of hire.
  • Must learn the chemical operator role within 60 days of hire.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma.

EXPERIENCE: Preferred experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing.
  • Prior experience operating a forklift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to wear an APR (SCBA respirator system), pass a spirometry test, and comply with wearing one as required.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 to 75 lbs. throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand for 60 to 70% of the shift.
  • Ability to navigate the ~20-acre site across various buildings.
  • Ability to traverse ship ladders, catwalks, and confined spaces as needed.
  • Comfortable working at elevated platforms up to 150 feet high.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces as required.
