Position Summary

The Principal Electrical Engineer will oversee and execute electrical engineering tasks for projects in power generation, oil and gas, and petrochemical sectors. Responsibilities include designing, analyzing, and preparing intricate project deliverables for various electrical systems, including power generation setups, substations, distribution networks, and specialized engineering systems tailored to project requirements. Utilize extensive industry knowledge to tackle complex challenges and unique scenarios in engineering, fabrication, and construction.

Utilize your comprehensive expertise to prepare and oversee the creation of essential project deliverables, which may include:

  • Specifications and Datasheets
  • Electrical Load Lists
  • One-line Diagrams
  • Motor Control Schematics
  • Layouts for Electrical Buildings and Equipment
  • Area Classification Studies and Plans
  • Lightning Protection Strategies
  • Conceptual Studies and Calculations
  • Relay Coordination
  • Cost and Planning Studies

Lead project development and coordination efforts, including:

  • Thoroughly understand the project contract, scope of work, design basis, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements, identifying potential issues early and taking proactive measures to resolve them.
  • Maintain close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and the client’s engineering team.
  • Carefully assess, communicate, and manage changes with a full understanding of their impact on the project.
  • Oversee the development and support of vendor packages.
  • Coordinate the review of supplier documents for both electrical and non-electrical packages.
  • Supervise the Inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of electrical equipment, motors, and associated systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to construction teams.
  • Develop procedures and offer detailed technical support for pre-commissioning, energization, commissioning, and start-up as required by the project.

Essential Qualifications

  • Accredited engineering degree may be necessary based on regional requirements.
  • A minimum of 15 years of extensive electrical engineering experience, with at least 10 years in the oil and gas sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of design methodologies, analytical techniques, and a thorough understanding of standards, codes, and guidelines, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ANSI.
  • Exceptional communication, project management, and execution capabilities.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of the detailed design engineering process.
  • Proficient in Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL), ETAP, and MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference for a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Preference for a Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Experience on-site during construction and commissioning is advantageous.
