Position Overview

The CNC Machining Specialist at GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation will be responsible for creating and optimizing 2 and 3-axis numerical control (N/C) machining processes for prototype components, as well as developing advanced 4 and 5-axis N/C machining techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties
  • Design and implement 2 and 3-axis N/C machining processes for prototype components, alongside 4 and 5-axis N/C methodologies.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives for established components, providing similar support.
  • Oversee the setup and operation of both N/C and conventional machine tools to facilitate development and production activities.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to fabricate prototype components.
  • Conduct in-process dimensional inspections, including setting up and operating coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Diagnose and resolve machining process challenges.
  • Develop and revise production planning documents in alignment with process modifications.
  • Guide and mentor other skilled personnel involved in both development and production tasks.
  • Perform additional related responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications Required
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant manufacturing experience, specifically in machining, assembly, machine repair, or inspection.
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience in machining, both NC and manual.
  • Familiarity with NC programming languages (such as APT, UG, or other structured systems).
  • Strong proficiency in shop mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry, as well as blueprint interpretation and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program in machining, with experience in NC and/or manual processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of tooling and fixturing, including STAS, tooling vendors, and Maximo generation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation.
  • Capability to interact effectively with various management levels, including design engineering and project teams, as well as the shop floor workforce.
  • Skill in fostering relationships that promote task completion, resolving conflicts, and being attuned to the needs of others.
  • Willingness to accept guidance and supervision, adhere to work rules and safety protocols, and meet deadlines and attendance standards.
