Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Clinical Nursing Support team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and record patient data, including medical history and vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for treatment procedures and assist healthcare providers as needed.
  • Perform routine non-invasive treatment procedures, such as phlebotomy and EKGs.
  • Administer medication, including parenteral and oral medications.
  • Enter data into computer systems and verify accuracy.
  • Provide basic cashiering duties and collect monies for various activities.
  • Maintain a sanitary work area and report equipment problems.
  • Provide quality customer service and ensure patient satisfaction.
Requirements
  • High School or GED Equivalent.
  • Program Graduate or 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Completion of UNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course within 90 days.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days.
Working Conditions
  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
  • May be required to travel to various work sites.
  • Limited access to medical rooms.
