**Technical Lead - Optical Systems Design**

About the Position

Microsoft's LEAP team within the SPARC organization in Azure Hardware Systems & Infrastructure (AHSI) seeks a Technical Lead for Optical Systems Design. The ideal candidate will have expertise in evaluating and recommending alternative interconnect technologies for future systems architectures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate alternative interconnect technologies to identify innovative applications in new systems architectures.
  • Collaborate with ecosystem partners to identify and develop promising technologies addressing Azure business challenges.
  • Develop and lead cross-functional teams to implement promising solutions in Azure data centers.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, combined with 12+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Deep understanding of datacenter-class optical module technologies such as Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable (QSFP)/(OSFP) form factor pluggable modules or emerging Near-Packaged Optics (NPO) or Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) approaches.
  • Expertise in optical transceiver components and their application in datacenter environments.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this position is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
