The Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center is seeking a highly skilled Food Service Supervisor I to join our team. As a Food Service Supervisor I, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our food service department, ensuring that meals are prepared and served in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and instruct employees and helpers in serving meals, cleaning and maintaining work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Lead or supervise patients, clients, or resident workers in performing food service tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Develop and implement effective food service procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Working Conditions

The Food Service Supervisor I will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with clients, personnel, and the public. The position requires standing and walking for extended periods, with occasional heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to work in a variety of temperatures and environments, including hot and cold temperatures, and may be exposed to chemicals and cleaning products.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in food service management or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
