KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Safety Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Safety Department in the ongoing enhancement, development, and management of safety initiatives at Bolthouse Fresh Foods. This position collaborates with Department Leaders and the Safety Manager to promote injury prevention through tailored safety programs, training sessions, policy implementation, safety evaluations, incident investigations, and regulatory inspections. The role also involves assisting the Leadership Team in managing our Injury and Illness Prevention Program to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA standards while fostering a proactive safety culture.

  • Collaborate with the Safety Leadership Team to develop and enforce safety policies in alignment with OSHA regulations.
  • Assist in designing and delivering training programs for managers and employees on workplace safety, fire prevention, and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Support departmental compliance with the Injury & Illness Prevention Program and other safety initiatives.
  • Conduct safety inspections and assessments, working with site leadership to identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate first aid supplies and assist with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Support incident investigations and compile necessary documentation for legal and insurance purposes.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and files.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual safety training sessions for employees.
  • Assist with the Contractor Safety Program, including vetting and tracking contractor incidents.
  • Stay informed about Occupational Safety and Health Act standards as per state and federal regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Health and Safety.
  • Familiarity with behavior-based safety programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, with strong reading, writing, and speaking skills.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to motivate and guide employees in safety training activities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with staff.
  • Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for meetings and training.

  • Knowledge of safety compliance and legal standards.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.

  • Demonstrated sound judgment in performing work safely and in compliance with regulatory standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in safety within the agriculture or food manufacturing sectors is advantageous.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during work hours.
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Willingness to stand or walk for prolonged periods as necessary.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Day shift (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM), Monday through Friday, with potential for before/after hours work as required.
  • Participation in weekend support rotation may be necessary.
