The specialist is responsible for preparing patients for evaluations by healthcare providers, assisting in examinations, and accurately documenting vital signs, medical history, and updating electronic health records (EHR).


Key Responsibilities:
- Support registered nursing staff by delivering direct patient care. - Prepare patient charts, monitor vital signs, and perform various screenings as required.

- Assist healthcare providers by managing practice workflow, organizing examination areas, maintaining inventory, and addressing patient inquiries. Additional tasks may include performing blood draws and point-of-care testing as directed.

- Follow detailed instructions and report any observations or symptoms related to patient reactions and concerns.
- Ensure efficient workflow within the practice to facilitate timely appointments and minimize patient wait times.
- Help schedule initial evaluations, follow-up visits, and manage cancellations.
- Conduct appointment reminder calls professionally, using appropriate language and tone.

- Exhibit strong oral, listening, and written communication skills to foster positive relationships with patients and colleagues.

- Prioritize and complete tasks accurately and promptly.

- Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment by staying informed, addressing issues through proper channels, and adhering to policies and procedures.

- Gather and input patient history, chief complaints, and medication lists into the electronic health record system.
- Maintain compliance with legal standards, including HIPAA and OSHA regulations, as well as company policies.
- Assist with various administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, and greeting patients.
- Ensure supplies are readily available by managing inventory, placing orders, and organizing stock.
- Restock examination and procedure rooms as necessary.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by healthcare providers and management in line with office protocols.

- Enhance the practice's reputation by taking ownership of new tasks and seeking opportunities to contribute positively to the team's success.

- Carry out miscellaneous job-related responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Familiarity with EKG, phlebotomy, and patient care practices.
- Valid New Jersey Licensed Practical Nurse certification.
- CPR certification required.
- Experience with electronic health record systems, preferably Athena.
- Knowledge of pre-authorizations and referrals is advantageous.
