Job Summary

The Network Automation Solutions Expert is responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting for Sound United customers within their regional area, occasional travel to other regions, and remote support. Primary duties involve working on Proof of Concepts, key account support, and further enhancing automation solutions within key accounts. When scheduling permits, you may also perform installation of the company's network-based patient monitoring and other systems using LAN/WAN, WLAN, and VLAN topologies in various hospital environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in presales proof-of-concept (POC) activities
  • Implement service sales strategies;
  • Assists with product sales and proposals as requested;
  • Identify potential Customer training issues and propose solutions;
  • Be the customer advocate for all matters involving Service for Automation Solutions;
  • Provides entire supplied system technical expertise and participates in technical training;
  • Follow-up to ensure closure of product and training issues to ensure overall customer satisfaction is achieved;
  • Supporting/troubleshooting system problems;
  • Receive and respond to telephone calls and emails from key accounts and end users;
  • Document all complaints and failures per the Sound United Quality System;
  • Initiate repair/replacement of failed and/or defective products;
  • Convey information from the field regarding product suggestions, improvements, and enhancements to Product Marketing;
  • Plans and implements the installation of networked-based systems.
  • Works with the clinical team to install and test systems;
  • Responsible for project installation recommendations and planning, quote recommendation and analysis, wireless site surveys, and WLAN/LAN performance evaluation;
  • Has a complete and thorough knowledge of the product and contributes to the development of new concepts, theories, and principles to enhance existing and new product design;
  • Conducts Biomed/IT training on Sound United systems;
  • Works on multifaceted problems that may require new and creative thinking to complete the project;
  • Utilizes good judgment within broad policies and practices to complete established goals and maintains flexibility to allow changes;
  • Acts in a leadership role as a principal technical customer contact and may interface with all levels of company and customer staff and management;
  • Function as an additional resource to the Tech Support team as needed for systems assistance;
  • Able and willing to work in hospital environments
  • Must be able to and available for frequent domestic and local travel; sometimes with little notice for key account support
  • Must be available for occasional international travel
  • During travel, must be able to lift up to 45 pounds of tools and equipment;

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three or more years of Enterprise network experience;
  • Extensive knowledge of networking using TCP/IP protocol in an Enterprise environment;
  • In-depth knowledge of IEEE wireless standards;
  • Experience with wireless site surveys;
  • Experience with spectrum analysis;
  • In-depth knowledge of networking terms and concepts;
  • Excellent networked systems troubleshooting skills;
  • Working knowledge of VPN configurations and use;
  • Established self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong 'hands-on' skills, with ability to perform detail-oriented work with high degree of accuracy;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems;
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent multi-tasking capabilities;
  • Demonstrated technical writing ability with good organizational skills;
  • Flexible and able to 'change gears' to accomplish goals;

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years of Enterprise network experience;
  • Experience with AirMagnet, Ekahau, or other site survey software;
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems;
  • Understanding of medical terms and concepts;
  • Medical or biomedical experience;

Education

CCNA or equivalent is preferred. CWNA or equivalent is preferred.

Physical requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in hospital and hospital-like environments, including, but not limited to, patient rooms, data centers, etc. It requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and lifting. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand or sit for extended periods when installing, configuring, and troubleshooting systems, facilitating meetings, or walking in the facilities. Frequent local and domestic travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver's license is required. Occasional international travel is necessary, so the possession of or ability to obtain a valid passport is required.
