Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Deaf Education Specialist to support the learning of a Kindergarten student in Washington. This is a remote, virtual position that requires interpreting verbal communication into American Sign Language (ASL) for the student, facilitating their equal access to learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpretation Services: Interpret verbal communication into ASL during lessons and classroom interactions to ensure the student has accurate, real-time information.
  • Collaboration with Educators: Work closely with teachers and staff to support the student's academic progress and address any challenges or concerns.
  • Communication Support: Assist the student in following along with classroom activities and provide clear, effective interpretation to enable them to fully participate in educational activities.
Qualifications:
  • EIPA Certification: Must hold a 4.0 score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or NIC Certification with a passed written EIPA exam.
  • Strong Proficiency in ASL: Excellent command of American Sign Language is essential for this role.
  • Experience Working with Young Children: Preferably experience working with young children, especially in an educational setting.
  • Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills: Ability to effectively communicate and organize tasks to ensure seamless interpretation services.
