Position Overview
The Senior Residential Counselor is a vital role within St. Joseph's Healthcare System, dedicated to delivering exceptional psychiatric rehabilitative case management services to individuals in various therapeutic supervised environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure comprehensive treatment for consumer residents, maintaining a safe and supportive atmosphere.
- Effectively communicate and document all observations and discussions in accordance with established protocols.
- Address the diverse treatment needs of residents, promoting their well-being and recovery.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health or a related Human Services field from an accredited institution, or hold a valid RN license in New Jersey. Alternatively, a combination of relevant college education and work experience totaling four years may be considered. Additional qualifications include:
- At least one year of relevant experience if educational requirements are not fully met.
- A Practical Nurse license accompanied by two years of related experience.
- A High School diploma or equivalent, with four years of relevant work or life experience.
Certification in CPR and Basic First Aid is mandatory. A valid driver’s license is required, along with adherence to all policies outlined in the SJHS Fleet Management & Safety Program. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.
Skills Required
The role demands the ability to gather information from various sources, apply professional principles in analysis, and summarize findings to address challenges effectively. Candidates should also possess fluency in American Sign Language, a familiarity with Deaf Culture, and knowledge of current technologies for individuals with hearing impairments.
