Intake Specialist

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Intake Specialist to join our team. As an Intake Specialist, you will serve as the initial point of contact for applicants seeking SSVF services, providing critical support and guidance throughout the application process.
Key Responsibilities:- Respond to inquiries from applicants regarding program eligibility requirements and other issues as needed.
- Collaborate with local office staff to ensure seamless intake processes and effective communication with applicants.
- Perform initial data entry and updates in the AWARD: Electronic Health Record system for SSVF.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and paper applicant files, including making appropriate entries into the applicant database.
- Develop and maintain relationships with inter- and intra-agency partners and departments regarding housing and support services for applicants.
- Minimum four-year degree or comparable 2-4 years of experience working directly with families and at-risk populations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be proactive and work well under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
This is a non-exempt, salaried position that requires a regular Monday-Friday weekday schedule. Occasional evening meetings may be required.
