Firefighter/EMT-Basic Probationary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter/EMT-Basic to join our team at Sandoval County, NM. As a Firefighter/EMT-Basic, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical services and fire suppression in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

• Respond to emergency alarms and calls for service, and perform fire suppression, rescue, life support, and emergency medical duties as required to control emergency incidents.
• Work requires the safe operation of county emergency and/or passenger vehicles, as necessary.
• Perform assigned duties within scope of authority and training, and according to SCFR policies and procedures.
• Operate emergency, fire, rescue, medical, and life saving tools and equipment.
• Assess, treat, stabilize, and transport patients according to SCFR medical protocol and level of emergency medical certification/licensure.
• Participate in classes, drills, and training to maintain and upgrade fire fighting, rescue, and emergency medical skills.
• Continuously update knowledge of regional traffic patterns, roads, landmarks, building locations, and special hazards of designated facilities.
• Assist and coordinate with law enforcement personnel and other first responders as required.

• High School Diploma/GED Certificate from an accredited institution; Associate's Degree in Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, or related field is preferred.
• Valid New Mexico driver's license.
• Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) License from New Mexico Emergency Medical Systems (NMEMS).
• Successful completion of the Sandoval County Fire Department EMT-Basic test with a score of 80% or higher.
• OSHA 202 Physical and DOT screening.
• Sandoval County Firefighter physical capacity/agility test.
• Background check as required.
