Job Title: Substation Superintendent

At TIC - The Industrial Company, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Substation Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our Field Supervision department, you will play a critical role in the success of our Transmission and Substation projects.

Job Summary:

The Substation Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the execution of substation projects, ensuring timely completion, and maintaining high-quality workmanship. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure their growth and success in their roles.
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Manage contract administration, including subcontractor and field management meetings to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain positive client relationships, including regular meetings and site visits.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement plans for project completion and turnover, ensuring seamless handovers to clients.
  • Maintain daily diaries for record-keeping purposes and ensure timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Review and approve promotions up to General Foreman level to ensure alignment with company policies and industry standards.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of construction experience, with at least 3 years in a Superintendent or leadership capacity, working on Transmission and Substation projects.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, with excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
Working Conditions:

This role requires regular, reliable attendance, with the ability to work productively and meet deadlines timely. The successful candidate will be able to communicate and interact effectively with supervisors, employees, and clients, both individually and in a team environment. The role may involve working at various locations, with varying conditions, and may require overtime and weekend work as needed.

Base Compensation: $138,000/yr - $144,000/yr (actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skillset, and location).
