Required Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
  • Valid Physical Therapy License in New Jersey
  • Certification as a Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Demonstrated tact, initiative, and sound judgment in professional responsibilities
  • Physical endurance for lifting and managing patients therapeutically

Preferred:

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy
  • Completion of a pediatric clinical rotation

Required Certifications and Licenses:

  • New Jersey Physical Therapy License
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification

Work Schedule:

  • Full-Time Position
  • 40 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers and interprets assessment tools as per competency standards, including patient history, screenings, observations, and evaluations
  • Establishes and prioritizes realistic functional objectives for rehabilitation, compensation, adaptation, or prevention of deficits
  • Selects, applies, and assesses the effectiveness of suitable treatment modalities as per competency standards
  • Utilizes principles of activity analysis to align physical, cognitive, and psychosocial demands with the abilities of the child or family
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and team members in both formal and informal settings, both orally and in writing
  • Assists in the training of others as per competency standards, including staff, physical therapy assistants, aides, and students
  • Takes initiative in seeking supervision or consultation regarding clinical performance
  • Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives and effectively utilizes feedback for professional growth
  • Meets competency expectations in explaining symptoms, prognosis, and functional limitations across various diagnostic categories
  • Provides discharge recommendations tailored to the child and family, considering prognosis, role expectations, and community resources
  • Achieves minimum annual patient volume expectations
  • Engages in direct interactions with patients, families, nursing staff, therapists, and other healthcare and educational professionals, which may also include community organizations and educational institutions
  • Delegates tasks and monitors the satisfactory completion of duties performed by physical therapy assistants, aides, and orthotics technicians, while also assisting in student training
