Job Summary

The Radiology Interventional Technologist plays a critical role in providing technical assistance to physicians in the Surgical and Imaging departments, ensuring the efficient and effective procurement, utilization, and stewardship of technical, physical, and human resources. This position requires compliance with patient care quality standards, Joint Commission, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Perform radiological and interventional procedures in a timely manner, documenting required information and communicating with primary physicians and direct care staff.
  • Coordinate and assist patient care in collaboration with radiology technologists, physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.
  • Evaluate patient condition to adequately perform radiological and interventional exams.
  • Inform and explain procedures to patients, ensuring their cooperation.
  • Provide comprehensive direct patient care, ensuring a safe and comforting environment.
  • Consult with staff as necessary to meet patient and family needs.
  • Ensure availability and safe utilization of clinical equipment and supplies.
  • Possess knowledge of patient growth and development across the lifespan.
  • Perform Point of Care procedures in a timely manner, documenting required information and complying with quality control standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with equipment in the Interventional Suite procedure room.
  • Demonstrate understanding of supplies used for specified procedures.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with renal, neuro, peripheral, and vascular anatomy.
  • Perform circulator duties during procedures, including supply procurement and technique alteration.
  • Troubleshoot simple equipment issues.
  • Respond to departmental policy guidelines.
  • Communicate with radiologists and physicians to coordinate and facilitate interventional schedules and patient care.
  • Provide statistical reports within established timeframes.
  • Use resources efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Participate in developing staff and affiliating students.
  • Maintain and develop professional competencies.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree
  • Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or a military training program of equivalent standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One to two years of experience in an acute care setting as a Radiology Technologist or Interventional Radiology Technologist.
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certification with the Texas Medical Board (TMB)
  • One of the following current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)/Registered Radiologic Technologist RT(R), (VI) license
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date
