About the Position:

As a key member of our Maternal Child Health team, you will provide high-quality patient care in our Nursery setting. Your expertise will be essential in assessing and planning individualized patient care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care in the Nursery setting, utilizing your nursing skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional care.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, directors, supervisors, and coworkers to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
  • Perform general nursing duties in all Maternal Child Health departments, with adequate supervision.
  • When acting as shift Charge Nurse, make patient care assignments based on staff skill, experience, and temperament, ensuring patient and staff safety.
  • Assist in evaluating performance and skills of Agency/Temporary staff and permanent healthcare staff.
  • Direct and precept staff members as needed in all aspects of patient care and management.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, from planning to implementation and sustaining efforts.

Requirements:

  • Current Texas Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • One or more years of recent Newborn Nursery/Post Partum experience preferred.
  • Certifications as indicated by the Steward Certification document.
  • Breastfeeding certifications within 6 months of hire and then yearly.
