About the Opportunity

The Industrial Safety Response Specialist (ISRS) at BlueOval SK is responsible for addressing emergency situations within an industrial manufacturing environment. ISRS professionals are vital in ensuring a secure workplace for all employees at BlueOval SK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adapt and provide support to the operational needs of the manufacturing facility, remaining ready to respond to structural and medical emergencies.
  • Conduct rescues for individuals in areas impacted by fire.
  • Execute high-angle rescue operations.
  • Perform rescues in confined spaces and identify hazards, issuing entry permits as necessary.
  • Manage hazardous material releases, including chemicals or gases from fire incidents.
  • Act defensively to contain spills and prevent contamination, utilizing specialized compounds to extinguish chemical fires.
  • Evacuate areas at risk of contamination from hazardous materials.
  • Administer first aid to injured or ill personnel and transport them to appropriate medical facilities.
  • Employ life-saving techniques based on acquired training.
  • Maintain and inspect fire protection and life safety equipment regularly.
  • Conduct audits and inventory checks of life safety equipment and vehicles.
  • Participate in drills and simulations to prepare for complex industrial fire scenarios.
  • Operate firefighting apparatus for effective fireground operations and responses.
  • Perform additional life safety duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, medical staff, emergency services, and the public.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict situations with sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Successfully complete the ISRS physical agility requirements.
  • Certification as an Apparatus Operator (Pumper/Aerial) required within 12 months of hire.
  • Must be CPR certified.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as Firefighter I/II is preferred.
  • Preference may be given to those verified as EMT Basic, Advanced, or Paramedic, and Firefighter, including NFPA 1670 disciplines.
  • OSHA 10 Certification is preferred and required within 12 months of hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must possess the physical agility to walk, climb, crawl, bend, push, pull, lift, and balance over challenging terrain.
  • Good physical stamina and endurance, capable of lifting and carrying loads exceeding 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).
  • Ability to see different color spectrums, with eyesight correctable to 20/20 in at least one eye.
  • Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate equipment and instruments.
  • Ability to differentiate between normal and abnormal physical conditions through various observations.
  • Pass pre-hire physical and drug screening, with potential physical tests for fitness validation.
