We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Specialize in a surgical specialty area and serve as a resource to others, assisting with complex surgical cases.
- Set up and operate various types of equipment used during procedures, ensuring their proper functioning and sterility.
- Maintain a specialty cart or item, checking its completeness and availability, and sending damaged items for repair.
- Precept Surgical Technologists I and provide guidance on handling situations and intervening when necessary.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment, applying knowledge and experience with aseptic surgical technique.
- Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and transporting equipment and supplies.
- Assist in the instrument room by cleaning and wrapping instruments, as needed.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
- No experience required, but proven experience as an Orthopedic Surgical Technician is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and reach above shoulders and twist frequently during the work shift. The individual must be able to withstand a very stressful and fast-paced environment.
