Surgical Technician

We are seeking a skilled Orthopedic Surgical Technician to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. This PRN position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work on a variety of cases.

• Specialize in a surgical specialty area, serving as a resource to others and assisting with complex surgical cases.
• Set up and operate various types of equipment used during procedures, ensuring sterility and proper functioning.
• Maintain a specialty cart or item, ensuring its completeness and availability.
• Precept Surgical Technologists I and provide a clean, safe, and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care.
• Perform all types of procedures and maintain basic knowledge of a variety of procedures.
• Ensure environmental disinfection, safety, and efficiency of the operating room.
• Adhere to institutionally approved infection control policies.
• Notify appropriate staff of equipment and supply problems.
• Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
• No experience required, but proven experience as an Orthopedic Surgical Technician is preferred.
