Job Summary

The Medical Scheduler position is a critical role in our healthcare team, requiring expertise in medical insurance guidelines and patient appointment scheduling. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing the appointment process and related tasks for new and established patients, providing a first point of contact with a friendly demeanor and excellent patient relations.

Responsibilities
  1. Schedule patient appointments
  2. High volume scheduling for patient appointments in a medical practice
  3. Knowledge of insurance guidelines for commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
  4. Knowledge of prior authorization and PCP referral process
  5. Experience with patient financials; past due balances; copay and deductible amounts, and insurance pending balances
  6. Research all scheduled appointments for accurate demographic and insurance information as well as accurate authorization information
  7. Acts as liaison between the patient, clinicians, and business office staff
  8. Provide support to front office staff to support the patient registration/patient check-out process
  9. Provide clerical support as needed
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year but less than 3 years of experience in high volume medical scheduling
  • At least 1 year but less than 3 years of medical office experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance guidelines
